'Some individuals may feel that way, but as a whole we do not'? Even that was an interesting answer it itself; it meant individual members of the Great Link didn't immediately absorb the opinions of others when they became elements of a whole, unlike, say, a Borg hivemind, where you had no individual thought or agency at all. Plus, as Kronos was clear evidence of, you could leave the Link when you wanted.
"Being in the link sounds like an interesting experience. Melding minds and souls - we Vulcans have a similar concept, Katra, that we share with one another if we mind meld deeply enough. Alas, a solid could never hope to experience such a thing on your scale." Unless he somehow managed to mind meld with the whole bowl of Changeling soup. Scandalous.
If Eshen were some other diplomat, you might take his words as shallow flattery. But though Eshen could lie well, he preferred not to rely on deception - rarer lies were more effective and easier to keep track of. Instead, he simply looked for what nice thoughts he already had and brought them to the surface. Everyone had something good about them, after all. Of course, it wasn't hard on this occasion since he was already intrigued by the Great Link and even more so now that he was involved with Aella. He was especially pleased that his efforts had been met with a smile and dismissal of the Jem'Hadar - if he hoped to obtain Kronos' blessing, as it were, opening that bridge of honesty was surely a good sign. Wait, could they even lie in the Great Link? A question for another time.
"I'm delighted to hear that you do sing, genuinely. In some ways, then, you are already art; an orchestra of voices." Eshen paused. His next question was more personal, though, to be fair, Kronos did bring up the matter of his marriage, so perhaps they were testing the personal waters a little. "I'm sorry if this is overstepping, but... Did you marry for love?"
